Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high south of the Bight is moving slowly east, extending a ridge along the New South Wales coast. Meanwhile, a low pressure trough lies over the state's west, while a second trough is situated off the northern coast. By early Tuesday the high is expected to be over the Tasman Sea, causing the coastal trough to weaken and the inland trough to shift further west. The approach of a cold front from the Southern Ocean mid-week is likely to result in the inland trough deepening before being pushed towards the coast. This sequence is likely to see most districts receive some rainfall through the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine over the south. Showers elsewhere, tending scattered across the north, with thunderstorms over the northern inland. Rain areas about parts of the northeast. East to southeast winds.Tuesday 15 FebruaryShowers possible throughout the state, most likely about the western inland and along the northern coast. The chance of thunderstorms over the western inland and on the far north coast. Northeast to southeast winds.Wednesday 16 FebruaryShowers over most of the state, least likely about the northern slopes and plains and in the far southwest. North to northeast winds, ahead of a southwesterly change in the southwest.Thursday 17 FebruaryFine in the far southwest. Showers over the remainder tending scattered along the coast and about parts of the southeast. Mostly southeast to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
