MELBOURNE - Feb 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system south of the Bight is moving slowly east, while a ridge extends north along the New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough over the inland is weakening and moving further west. The high is forecast to reach the Tasman Sea during Wednesday before slipping away towards New Zealand later in the week. At the same time, the next cold front is expected to approach from the southwest, moving across southern parts of the state on Friday before continuing to central and northern areas on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers across the northeast with possible thunderstorms over the northern inland. Isolated light showers or drizzle patches about the southern and central coasts and adjacent east ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 9 FebruaryIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers over the northern inland, mainly near the Queensland border. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts and adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon showers over the far northwest. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers about the northern coast. Showers developing across the south, becoming scattered near the southern border with possible thunderstorms. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds near the coast and northeast to northwest winds inland. A late southerly change in the far south.Saturday 12 FebruaryScattered showers or rain areas in the south. Isolated showers in the northeast, although mostly fine. Southerly winds extending through southern and central districts.
