MELBOURNE - Feb 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast. A small low pressure system which has moved through southeastern New South Wales this morning is now offshore, briefly bringing southerly winds to the south and central coasts. Winds will turn back to northerly on Friday as the high in the Tasman Sea again dominates. On Sunday a cold front is expected to bring a significant change to the state. A high in the Bight follows the front. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPartly cloudy but fine in the northeast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in much of the remainder tending more isolated in the east and far north. Northeast to northwest winds, tending southerly on the south and central coasts.Friday 4 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered in the southeast. Northwest to northeast winds.Fire Danger - Very High in the North Western Fire Area.Saturday 5 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered in the south and southwest.
