Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea is drifting slowly eastwards. A cold front and associated low pressure trough will cross east Bass Strait this evening. The trough will drift westwards to southern and western Victoria on Wednesday. The next front will move across Bass Strait early Thursday, leaving a trough across southern Victoria. A stronger cold front will approach western Victoria later on Friday, crossing the State on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from isolated showers near the western and central coasts. Hot north to northwest winds ahead of a fresh southwest change gradually extending to the northeast.Wednesday 2 FebruaryLocal afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms over central and eastern districts during the afternoon. Warm to hot and becoming humid with light northerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Locally high.Thursday 3 FebruaryWarm to hot and humid with showers and thunderstorms, mainly affecting central and eastern districts. Light to moderate north to northwest winds inland and seabreezes developing along the coast.Friday 4 FebruaryShowers and local thunderstorms, mainly in the east. Warm to hot and humid with light northerly winds and afternoon seabreezes.Saturday 5 FebruaryRain and isolated thunderstorms extending from the west. Mild to warm northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
