MELBOURNE - Feb 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast. During Tuesday a low pressure trough will deepen over the northwest and then it will extend to the southeast of the state by Wednesday as a cold front moves over the southwestern Tasman Sea. The high and ridge are expected to be the dominant influence over the weather in most of New South Wales for the next few days. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the northwest. Mostly clear elsewhere. Northeast to northwest winds ahead of a late southerly change on the far south coast.Wednesday 2 FebruaryMostly sunny in the northeast apart from the chance of showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, tending widespread in the northwestern and central inland. Northeast to northwest winds turning briefly southerly in the morning on the south coast.Fire Danger - Very High in Northwest Slopes and in the northeaster parts of Upper Western districts.Thursday 3 FebruaryMostly sunny in the northeast apart from the chance of showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the remainder tending widespread in the southern inland. Northeast to northwest winds, with a late southerly change on the south coast.Friday 4 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast apart from the chance of showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered in the southeast. Northwest to northeast winds.Saturday 5 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges.
