Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will move slowly east during the next day or two before stalling near New Zealand later in the week. A ridge from this high extends to the northern New South Wales coast, while a weak trough lies over the state's west. Temperatures and humidity levels are once again expected to rise across most districts during the early part of the week, as generally northerly winds become dominant. It is likely that by mid week this pattern will result in precipitation over a large part of the state, assisted by moisture drawn down from the remains of cyclone activity to the north.
Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of a light shower or two on the far north coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot. An early southerly change on the south coast, otherwise northeast to northwest winds.Fire Danger - Very High: Hunter, Sydney, Southern Ranges, Central Ranges, North Western, and Southern Slopes.Tuesday 1 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the northern inland, becoming scattered in the northwest. The chance of a light shower or two about the far north coast. Fine elsewhere. Hot to very hot. Northeast to northwest winds, before a late southerly change in the south.Wednesday 2 FebruaryThe chance of showers in the northeast and southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered with possible thunderstorms about the southern and northwestern inland. Humid. Southerly winds early on the south and central coasts, otherwise northeast to northwest winds.Thursday 3 FebruaryIsolated showers across western and southern districts, tending scattered about the southern inland.
