MELBOURNE - Jan 26/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is moving across the southern Tasman Sea bringing a weak southerly change to New South Wales south and central coasts and weak low pressure trough lies over the northeastern inland. A high pressure system will move towards Tasmania during Thursday and Friday extending a ridge to the north coast. Despite the continuing humid conditions over eastern New South Wales, the presence of very warm air in the upper atmosphere will make and significant rainfall unlikely over the forecast period. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPossible showers and thunderstorms in the east, and in the central west. Mostly clear elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds, change in the west and southeast. Severe fire danger for the Southern Slopes. Very high fire danger for Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Illawarra Shoalhaven, Monaro Alpine, ACT, Central and Southern Ranges, Northern Slopes, North Western.Thursday 27 JanuaryMostly sunny sunny on the far north coast, isolated showers and thunderstorms in the remainder of the northeast, chiefly afternoon. Possible showers on the southern half of the coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot for the northern inland. North to northeast winds in the northeast, and southerly winds elsewhere.Friday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far northeast.
