Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast, while another ridge lies across Victoria and southern New South Wales. Between these systems, a low pressure trough stretches over central parts of the state. This trough will remain in the region until Thursday, when it is expected to shift to the northeast as high strengthens south of the Bight. Despite the continuing humid conditions in many parts of New South Wales, the presence of very warm air in the upper atmosphere will make widespread rainfall unlikely during the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Fine throughout. Early cloud about the coast and ranges, otherwise generally sunny. Winds mainly southeast to northeast near the coast, and northwest to northeast inland. Hot to very hot over the inland.
Very High Fire Danger in: Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western.
Wednesday 26 JanuaryIsolated showers on the south coast. The chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms about parts of the central coast and adjacent ranges, and the southern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot over the inland and in central eastern parts. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southerly change in the west and southeast.Thursday 27 JanuaryIsolated showers on the southern half of the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms across the northeast. Fine and hot to very hot elsewhere. North to northeast winds in the northeast, and southerly winds elsewhere.Friday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers on the south coast and in the northeast. Fine elsewhere.
