Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast. A low well south of Tasmania extends a front northward through New South Wales with a southerly change moving northwards along the southern half of the coast. The front will stagnate over the inland and a trough will persist over inland New South Wales until Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers in the southeast and possibly along the southern inland border. Fine elsewhere, mostly sunny in the west but partly cloudy remainder. Freshening northwest winds ahead of a west to southwest change over the southern and western inland. North to northeast winds along the coast ahead of a southerly change in the south. Hot over the inland.
Very High Fire Danger In: Central Tablelands, Upper Western and in the Northwest and Central West Slopes and Plains districts.
Tuesday 25 January
Isolated morning showers or drizzle on the coast south of about Port Macquarie. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Winds tending northwest to northeast. Hot to very hot over the inland.
Very High Fire Danger in: Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western.
Wednesday 26 JanuaryIsolated showers on the south coast. The chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms on the adjacent ranges, the eastern central ranges and the coast north to the Hunter. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot over the inland and in central eastern parts. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southerly change in the west and southeast.Thursday 27 JanuaryIsolated showers on the southern half of the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine but hot to very hot elsewhere. North to northeast winds in the far northeast, southerly winds elsewhere.Friday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers on the south coast and in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
