Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high pressure system south of New Zealand extends a ridge to the New South Wales coast, while a trough lies over the inland. A cold front is expected to pass to the south during Friday, pushing southerly winds across western and southern parts of New South Wales, before another high drifts across from the west during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers about the northern coasts and adjacent ranges, possibly heavy at times, and isolated on the central coast. Isolated showers on the southern coast and adjacent ranges. Thunderstorms in the northeast and on the central ranges. Clear over the remainder. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers near the coast and on the northern ranges. Isolated showers developing in the southern inland. The chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms through much of the western inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Mainly east to northeast winds.Saturday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms on the south and central coasts and ranges, possibly extending into the far western inland. Partly cloudy remainder. East to southeast winds, tending southerly along parts of the coast.Sunday 23 JanuaryIsolated showers coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated thunderstorms on the south coast and southern and central ranges. Mostly sunny remainder. Westerly winds over the southern inland, and southeast to northeast winds elsewhere.Monday 24 JanuaryThe chance of isolated showers in the far southeast and northeast. Fine elsewhere. Freshening north to northwest winds ahead of a west to southwest change in the western and southern inland and a late southerly change on the south coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Friday.Product IDN10031
