Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales coast, while a trough lies over the inland. The high will move rapidly to the southeast today, although a ridge across the Tasman Sea will be maintained. A cold front is expected to pass to the south during Friday, pushing southerly winds across western and southern parts of New South Wales, before another high drifts across from the west during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers about the central and northern coasts and adjacent ranges, possibly heavy at times, becoming isolated on the central coast in the afternoon. Isolated showers on the southern coast and adjacent ranges. Thunderstorms in the northeast and on the central ranges, mainly afternoon. Sunny over the remainder. Southeast to northeast windsFriday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers near the coast and on the northern ranges. Isolated showers developing in the southern inland. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the south. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Mainly east to northeast winds.Saturday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms on the south and central coasts and ranges. Partly cloudy remainder. East to southeast winds, tending southerly along parts of the coast.Sunday 23 JanuaryIsolated showers coast and adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny remainder.
