Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system passing south of Tasmania will move through the southern Tasman Sea during Tuesday. A high pressure system in the Bight extends a ridge across Victoria and will move just to the south of Victoria on Wednesday before moving to the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A trough will move across most of the state on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated light showers in the south, mainly near the central and western coast. Fresh southwest winds moderating into the evening. Winds locally strong at times near the central and Gippsland coasts.Tuesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers in the south contracting to the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Mostly sunny in the north. Mild with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 19 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the south with some morning drizzle patches over East Gippsland. Mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds and freshening afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 20 JanuaryMorning fog patches inland then a warm and mostly sunny day. Light northerly winds becoming moderate to fresh over the west during the afternoon. Milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Friday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers developing over western districts in the morning and extending to eastern districts by the afternoon. Showers tending more widespread in the south. The chance of isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Warm north to northwesterly winds freshening ahead of cooler southerly change.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
