MELBOURNE - Jan 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation Over the course of the next few days, a slow-moving trough is expected to linger in the northeast while a high pressure ridge in the southwest is slowly moving eastwards. A cold front is moving north along the NSW coast today ahead of this high. The high is ecpected to move into the Tasman on Wednesday. Tropical Cyclone Zelia is currently to the south of New Caledonia and is forecast to pass close to Nortfolk island late this evening and should approch New Zealand during Tuesday, gradually weakening as it moves southeast. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeastern inland and about the Hunter and possibly developing about the northern ranges. Cloud and isolated showers/drizzle along the southern coast extending to the central coast late in the day. Fine elsewhere. Northeast winds in the northeast. Southeast to southwest winds over the remainder.Tuesday 18 JanuaryCloud and isolated showers/drizzle along the southern half of the coast and adjacent east ranges extending northwards. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, most likely about the ranges. South to southeast winds.Wednesday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the south and the inland slopes in the north. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast and about the Central Tablelands, most likely about the Northern Tablelands . East to northeast winds in the east tending southerly in the west.Thursday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the south and the inland slopes in the north. Southeast to northeast winds. The chance of thunderstorms about the central and northern tablelands and adjacent northern slopes. Southeast to northeast windsFriday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers, chiefly along the coast and ranges and about the southern border districts.
