Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
Over the course of the next few days, a slow-moving trough is expected to linger in the northeast while a high pressure ridge persists in the southwest. A cold front associated with a low passing south of Tasmania is likely to affect the eastern and northern parts on Monday followed by a ridge strengthening over the southern and western parts from Tuesday.
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Vania west of Norfolk Island is expected to move slowly south over the next few days. Tropical Cyclone Zelia in the northern Coral Sea is expected to move southeast.
Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northwest to parts of the northeast in the afternoon. Cloud and isolated showers/drizzle along the southern coast extending to the central coast late in the day. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to southwest winds extending through most districts.Tuesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the northern and central parts. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. South to southeast winds.Wednesday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the south and the inland slopes in the north. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. East to northeast winds in the east tending southerly in the west.Thursday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the south and the inland slopes in the north.
