MELBOURNE - Jan 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system will pass well south of Tasmania on Monday morning with an associated cold front passing through Bass Strait. A high pressure system in the Bight will extend a ridge across Victoria on Tuesday. The high will move just to the south of Victoria on Wednesday before moving across to the Tasman Sea on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMostly fine. Isolated thundery showers possible over the far eastern ranges and isolated showers possible over the west coast. Light to moderate southwest winds, fresh near the coast.Monday 17 JanuaryFine and sunny over the north. Mostly fine in the south with isolated showers, mainly near the coast. Mild with moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong at times near the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers in the south contracting to the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Mild with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 19 JanuaryFine. Partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds and fresh afternoon seabreezes.Thursday 20 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers developing in the far southwest at night.
