Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update
MELBOURNE - Jan 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to far north coast of New South Wales, and is directing moist northeasterly winds into a weakening trough over the inland. During Saturday and Sunday the trough is expected to weaken further and move northeast as another high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge across the west. Tropical Cyclone Vania is over New Caledonia and is expected to move slowly south to southeast over the next few days. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayEarly fog patches about the southern inland. Isolated showers over the central ranges and the northwest. Isolated early showers about the central coast. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northwest. Fine elsewhere and mostly sunny in the west and south. East to northeast winds in the northeast, and southerly winds elsewhere.Sunday 16 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the northern and central inland. Isolated showers in the far northeast and possible early showers on the central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing later in the far southeast corner near a southerly change. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds near the coast, and west to southwest winds inland.Monday 17 JanuaryCloud and isolated showers/drizzle along the southern coast extending to the central coast later. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over parts of the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to southwest winds extending throughout.Tuesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, reaching the adjacent ranges in the south and the inland slopes in the north.
