MELBOURNE - Jan 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system to the west of Tasmania is moving southwards. An associated low pressure trough will move through western Victoria this morning, central districts by early afternoon and eastern districts later in the day. A weak high pressure ridge will move over Victoria on Saturday with cold fronts passing through Bass Strait on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayCloudy and humid. Widespread rain at first but rain clearing western districts during the morning and central districts during the afternoon and evening. Locally heavy falls, mainly over central districts and the northeast. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast contracting eastwards and clearing. Isolated showers or drizzle possible south of the ranges following the rain. Generally mild with strong to gale force northerly winds shifting moderate to locally fresh west to southwesterly from the west.Saturday 15 JanuaryMorning fog patches in the north. Rain areas in the east clearing by the afternoon. Isolated morning drizzle patches in the south. Mostly sunny in the north. A generally warm day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times about the Gippsland coast.Sunday 16 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers near the western and central coasts. Mostly sunny in the north. Mild to warm with light to moderate southwest winds, freshening near the coast in the afternoon.Monday 17 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers. Mostly sunny in the north.
