MELBOURNE - Jan 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to New South Wales far north coast, and is directing moist northeasterly winds into a trough over the state's far west. The trough will move o central parts of the state during as an associated low moves south of Tasmania. During Saturday and Sunday the trough is expected to weaken and move northeast as another high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge across the far west. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Rain and isolated thunderstorms in the west, locally heavy at times, with patchy rain extending to the southeast later. Mostly sunny in the northeastern inland. North to northeast winds in the east, and southerly winds in the west.Saturday 15 JanuaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the northwest and becoming patchy and contracting from the southeast to central eastern parts. Isolated showers on the far north coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. East to northeast winds in the northeast, and southerly winds elsewhere.Sunday 16 JanuaryMostly sunny in the west and south. Isolated showers elsewhere, with the chance of thunderstorms over the northern inland. East to northeast winds near the coast, and west to southwest winds inland.Monday 17 JanuaryIsolated showers about the coast and over the northeast. Fine elsewhere.
