Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Tasmania is moving slowly towards the Tasman Sea, while a trough extends through far western New South Wales to a low over Victoria. This pattern is directing a humid northeasterly airstream across New South Wales and leading to widespread precipitation, particularly in the west. During Friday the high is expected to be near New Zealand, while the trough moves into central parts of New South Wales and weakens.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas and scattered thunderstorms over the western inland. Scattered showers in the east. North to northeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Thursday 13 JanuaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the west, locally heavy in the far west. Isolated showers elsewhere, although mostly fine across the northeast inland. North to northeasterly winds, fresh along the coast, and in the far west.Friday 14 JanuaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the west and south. Isolated showers along the central and northern coast and ranges. Fine over the northwest slopes and plains. North to northeast winds turning southerly in the west.Saturday 15 JanuaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms across central and southeast districts. Fine in the northeast apart from an isolated shower or two, and fine in the southwest. Northeast to southeast winds.Sunday 16 JanuaryScattered showers across the north, although remaining fine in the far northeast. Isolated showers in the southeast. Fine in the southwest.
