MELBOURNE - Jan 11/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of Tasmania is expected to remain in the area over the next few days, maintaining a ridge across the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern is directing a very humid easterly airstream across New South Wales. A trough embedded within this stream off the northern coast is causing enhanced rainfall in that area, while another trough is situated over the western inland. The inland trough is expected to shift slightly further west mid-week as a ridge strengthens over the state's east, before moving east again at the end of the week. This should result in most districts receiving some rainfall, although mostly focused around the trough. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas or showers in most districts. Locally heavy rain over the northeast corner. Thunderstorms west of the ranges, and in the northeast. East to northeasterly winds, fresh at times in the east..Wednesday 12 JanuaryRain areas or showers across most of the state. Locally heavy over the far northeast at first. Thunderstorms on and west of the ranges. North to northeasterly winds.Thursday 13 JanuaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the west, locally heavy in the far west.
