MELBOURNE - Jan 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea near New Zealand extends a ridge to the New South Wales coast directing a deep humid moist easterly airstream over NSW. A trough lies embedded within this stream off the northern NSW coast. An inland trough developing over the state's west will continue over the inland until about Wednesday. An upper trough will continue over eastern NSW. A high pressure system will strengthen south of Adelaide on Sunday before drifting gradually east and this will continue the humid easterly inflow over the state through most of the coming week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered about the north coast and adjacent ranges with the possibility of thunderstorms. The chance of isolated showers developing over parts of the southern inland, and possible thunderstorms about Alpine areas. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds. a late southerly change in the far southwest.Sunday 9 JanuaryFine in the far northwest for most of the day. Rain periods or showers, and isolated of thunderstorms developing over most of the remainder. with rain increasing about the far north coast later in the day. East to to southeast winds, fresh at times about the ranges and in the northeast.Monday 10 JanuaryRain areas in most parts of the state, possibly heavy about the far northeastern Queensland border. Moderate to fresh easterly winds.Tuesday 11 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms over the northwest, and widespread rain over much of the the remainder. East to northeast winds. Possible heavy falls about the Northern Tablelands and adjacent coast. Moderate to fresh east to northeast winds.Wednesday 12 JanuaryScattered showers. Showers becoming isolated on the north coast. Rain areas over much of the the remainder.
