Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will move over southwest Victoria this morning, and will extend over northwest and central parts of Victoria this afternoon and evening before weakening. A high pressure system will develop south of the Bight tonight and will extend a ridge south of Tasmania during Sunday. This ridge will strengthen during Monday and Tuesday. This development combined with a deepening low pressure trough over inland Victoria will produce a humid and unstable easterly flow across the State.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayWarm to hot with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds over central and western districts ahead of a cooler, gusty southwest change extending from the southwest. Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms mainly near and following the change and also developing over the eastern ranges.Sunday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers, tending scattered in the northwest during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coast during the afternoon.Monday 10 JanuaryCloudy and humid with scattered showers, more isolated in the south. The chance of thunderstorms in the northwest. Moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong at times about the coast.Tuesday 11 JanuaryCloudy and humid with scattered showers, more isolated in the south.
