MELBOURNE - Jan 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales coast. This high will move away to the southeast today, while a low pressure trough moves into the state's west. The trough is expected to remain across the inland during Sunday as another slow-moving high pressure system strengthens south of Adelaide before drifting gradually east. The coming week is likely to be dominated by humid east to northeast winds as the high becomes the dominant synoptic feature. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the northeast, becoming scattered about the north coast and adjacent ranges in the afternoon with possible thunderstorms. Isolated showers about the central coast and adjacent ranges, clearing in the afternoon. The chance of afternoon showers over parts of the southern inland, and possible thunderstorms about Alpine areas. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds. a late southerly change in the far southwest.Sunday 9 JanuaryRain areas in the northeast, possibly heavy about the north coast. Rain extending throughout the state, although patchy in the northwest. The chance of thunderstorms in the south and east.
