Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 6/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near Tasmania is directing moist winds into a trough over northeastern New South Wales. The trough will weaken overnight and early Friday as the high moves across the southern Tasman Sea towards New Zealand extending a ridge to the far north coast. During Sunday another slow-moving, strong high pressure system is expected to move south of Tasmania and another low pressure system to develop over the inland parts of the state.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly sunny in the southern and northwestern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered in the northeast and rain areas on the north coast and ranges, heavy on the far north coast. The Chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Southeast to northeast winds, fresh near the north coast.Friday 7 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coast. Mostly sunny in the far west. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds.Saturday 8 JanuaryIsolated showers on the north coast. Patchy rain developing in the southwest and the Chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms on the western slopes of the ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds.Sunday 9 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the northwest. Rain areas elsewhere. East to southeast winds.Monday 10 JanuaryRain tending patchy in the northwest.
