MELBOURNE - Jan 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Bight will drift southeastwards across Tasmania tonight and over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A trough of low pressure will reach western Victoria on Friday afternoon and will cross the remainder of the State overnight and during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayLocal early morning drizzle near the coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the east during the afternoon and evening. Mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Thursday 6 JanuaryFine apart from isolated early morning showers in the far east. A warm day in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate east to northeast wind and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes along the Gippsland coast.Friday 7 JanuaryGenerally hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwest change reaching the far southwest during the afternoon. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms near the change.Saturday 8 JanuaryWarm to hot in the north and east with moderate to fresh northerly winds, but cooler southwest winds over the southwest gradually extending throughout.
