MELBOURNE - Jan 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will become established over the Tasman Sea today. Another high pressure centre will then move from the Bight to be near Tasmania late Wednesday, before reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A trough of low pressure will reach western Victoria on Friday afternoon. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from isolated clearing showers in the far east. Mild with morning cloud in the south, warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly wind freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Wednesday 5 JanuaryIsolated showers developing in the east with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Warm to hot in the north, milder in the south with southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Thursday 6 JanuaryFine apart from isolated morning showers in the far east. A warm day in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate east to northeast wind and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 7 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms mainly affecting western and central areas during the afternoon.
