MELBOURNE - Dec 31/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over southwestern Victoria will move eastwards overnight before clearing northeastern Victoria later Saturday. A high pressure system will form south of the Bight during Sunday and drift slowly eastwards to be centred just west of Tasmania by Monday night. On Tuesday a high pressure ridge will remain to the south of Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayHot and gusty north to northwesterly winds over northern and eastern areas, gradually shifting milder southwesterly from the west during the evening. Isolated thunder possible near the change.Saturday 1 JanuaryIsolated showers mainly about the northeast and eastern ranges with possible isolated thunderstorms. Warm to hot in the north, but milder in the south. West to southwest winds extending throughout and tending more southerly in the south.Sunday 2 JanuaryFine. Mild in the south, but warm inland with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 3 JanuaryFine. Generally warm and sunny in the north, milder south of the divide with areas of morning cloud. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Tuesday 4 JanuaryFine. Mild in the south but warm to the north.
