Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 31/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is extending a ridge to northwestern New South Wales, directing hot north to northwest winds across the state. On Saturday a cold front will move through the far south and a low pressure trough will develop over the inland parts. The trough is expected to contract to the northeast of the state during Sunday and Monday as another high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge to the south and central coasts.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly clear. Northwest winds and coastal sea breezes.Saturday 1 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the south. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot northwesterly winds and coastal sea breezes turning southerly in the south.Sunday 2 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the far southwest. Isolated showers on the southern half of the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the ranges but clear from the southerm inland. Northwest to northeast winds in the far northeast, south to southeast winds in the remainder.Monday 3 JanuaryMostly sunny in the southern inland Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered in the afternoon on the western slopes of the central and northern ranges. East to northeast winds in the northeast. South to southeast winds over the remainder. South to southeast winds.Tuesday 4 JanuaryMostly sunny in the western and central inland.
