MELBOURNE - Dec 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure will move over western and central Victoria later today, clearing northeast Victoria later Saturday. A high pressure system will form south of the Bight during Sunday and drift slowly eastwards to be centred just west of Tasmania by Monday night. Forecast for the rest of FridayHot north to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty over western and central districts, shifting milder southwesterly in western and central areas during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the change.Saturday 1 JanuaryIsolated showers mainly about the northeast and eastern ranges with possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Warm to hot in the north, but milder in the south. West to southwest winds extending throughout and tending more southerly in the south.Sunday 2 JanuaryFine apart from morning coastal drizzle. Mild in the south, but warm inland with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 3 JanuaryFine. Generally warm and sunny in the north, milder south of the divide with areas of morning cloud.
