Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system passing through Bass Strait will reach the Tasman Sea tonight. A trough of low pressure will move over western and central Victoria later on Friday, but will not clear northeast Victoria until later Saturday. A high pressure system will form south of the Bight during Sunday and will extend a ridge towards Bass Strait. The high will be centred just west of Tasmania Monday night.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine tonight with southwest to southeasterly winds easing.Friday 31 December
A hot and generally dry day. North to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty across western and central districts, shifting milder, gusty southwesterly in western and central districts in the afternoon and evening.
Isolated thunderstorms possible near the change.
Saturday 1 JanuaryIsolated showers mainly about the northeast and eastern ranges with possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Warm to hot in the north, but milder in the south. West to southwest winds extending throughout and tending more southerly in the south.Sunday 2 JanuaryFine apart from isolated coastal drizzle during the morning. Mild in the south, but warm inland with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 3 JanuaryFine. Generally warm and sunny in the north, but milder south of the divide with areas of morning cloud. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
