MELBOURNE - Dec 29/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move across Victoria today, reaching the Tasman Sea by tonight. A trough of low pressure will move over western and central Victoria later on Friday, stalling over the northeast of Victoria until later Saturday when a cold front will push through. A high pressure system will form south of the Bight during Sunday and will extend a ridge towards Bass Strait. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from early fog patches in the south. Mild to warm in the south with morning cloud near the coast. Warm to hot and sunny in the north. Generally light winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 31 DecemberHot and dry day. North to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty across western and central districts, shifting milder southwesterly in western and central districts in the evening.Saturday 1 JanuaryIsolated showers mainly about the northeast and eastern ranges with possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Warm to hot in the north, but milder in the south. West to southwest winds extending throughout and tending more southerly in the south.Sunday 2 JanuaryFine apart from coastal drizzle patches.
