MELBOURNE - Dec 26/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is crossing the Tasman Sea. A high pressure system in the Bight will extend rapidly eastwards over Bass Strait on Tuesday to the Tasman Sea. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania on Wednesday with an associated trough of low pressure expected to cross Victoria. The next high pressure system will then move rapidly through Bass Strait, reaching the Tasman Sea by Thursday night. Another cold front will move across western and central Victoria later on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers near the Gippsland coast, clearing later in the evening. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds easing.Tuesday 28 DecemberFine. Early cloud near the coast, then a cool to mild and mostly sunny day with light winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 29 DecemberFine although partly cloudy. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwest to southerly from the west.Thursday 30 DecemberFine and mostly sunny. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot north of the divide. Generally light winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 31 DecemberHot and dry day.
