MELBOURNE - Dec 25/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossing Tasmania will reach the Tasman Sea tonight. A ridge of high pressure will extend across Bass Strait later on Monday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Another cold front will cross Tasmania on Wednesday with an associated trough of low pressure expected to cross Victoria. The next high pressure system will then move rapidly through Bass Strait, reaching the Tasman Sea by Thursday night. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the eastern ranges clearing this evening. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Monday 27 DecemberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting eastwards during the day. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, but mild and mostly sunny north of the divide. Fresh southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 28 DecemberFine. Local early morning frost, then a cool to mild and mostly sunny day with with light winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 29 DecemberFine although partly cloudy. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwest to southerly.Thursday 30 DecemberFine and mostly sunny. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot north of the divide.
