Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 24/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies over southwestern New South Wales, with a secondary trough off the far north coast. A high pressure system is building over the Tasman Sea, and will extend a ridge to the north coast during Saturday. Another trough and associated cold front will move across the state during Sunday and Monday, bringing unstable conditions to most districts. Longer term a monsoonal trough is expected to develop over Queensland possibly bringing further rain to northeastern parts on Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers and the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast, tending to rain areas about the north coast, ranges and slopes. Isolated afternoon showers in the southeast and the chance of thunderstorms on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms over central parts. Fine and partly cloudy in the far west and southwest. Warm to hot northwest to northeast winds tempered along the coast by afternoon sea breezes.Sunday 26 DecemberFine in the far southwest. Rain in the northeast, increasing near the Queensland border through the day with possible heavy falls. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, tending scattered in the east during the afternoon. Warm to hot northeast to northwest winds ahead of a cooler southerly change in the south and west.Monday 27 DecemberFine and partly cloudy in the west. Rain and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, easing later in the day. Isolated showers elsewhere, clearing from the south. Southwest to southeast winds, fresh and gusty near the coast.Tuesday 28 DecemberIsolated showers about the central and northern coasts and adjacent ranges, tending scattered in the far northeast.
