MELBOURNE - Dec 23/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move across Bass Strait on Friday morning before reaching the Tasman Sea later Friday. A low pressure trough will drift over the State on Christmas Day as a cold front moves over Tasmania. Another cold front will approach Tasmania late on Boxing Day. The next high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine. Mostly sunny. A warm day inland with generally light southeasterly winds but milder near the coast with afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 25 DecemberMostly fine. Cloud increasing from the west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms near the eastern ranges and the chance of isolated showers near the coast later in the day. A warm day with a light to moderate northerly wind turning southerly in southern and western areas.Sunday 26 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms near the eastern ranges contracting further eastwards during the day. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts. Mild in the south, warm in the north with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Monday 27 DecemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, scattered at times near the coast. Cloudy in the south.
