MELBOURNE - Dec 22/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is crossing Tasmania early this morning and will push across eastern Bass Strait later this morning. A high pressure system will then approach southwest Victoria Thursday night, passing just south of the State before reaching the Tasman Sea later Friday. A low pressure trough will drift over the State on Christmas Day as a cold front moves over Tasmania. Another cold front will approach Tasmania late on Boxing Day. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from isolated morning showers in south Gippsland. Warm and sunny in the north. Cool to mild in the south with areas of cloud clearing this afternoon. Freshening southwest to southerly winds.Friday 24 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. A warm day inland with generally light winds but milder near the coast with afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday 25 DecemberMostly fine. Isolated showers and thunderstorms near the eastern ranges and the chance of isolated showers near the coast later in the day. A warm day with a light to moderate northerly wind turning southerly in southern and western areas.Sunday 26 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms near the eastern ranges contracting further eastwards during the day. isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts.
