MELBOURNE - Dec 22/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over northeastern New South Wales will move further northeast during today and weaken as a cold front moves through the southern Tasman Sea and a high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge to the north coast. During Thursday and Friday another trough will develop over the central parts as the high moves over the southern Tasman Sea. Another cold front is expected to cross the state during Saturday and Sunday bringing unstable conditions to most districts. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms and the chance of late showers on the south and central coasts Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds, tending light and variable in the central inland parts.Friday 24 DecemberRain areas in the northeast tending widespread on the north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms over the northern inland. Isolated showers developing over the central parts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 25 DecemberRain areas in the northeast, tending to widespread rain on the northern coast and ranges. Patchy rain over central parts, isolated showers in the far southeast. Chance thunderstorms in areas affected by rain or showers. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds tending light and variable over western parts.Sunday 26 DecemberPartly cloudy in the southwest. Rain in the far northeast and isolated showers or patchy rain elsewhere, the chance of thunderstorms.
