MELBOURNE - Dec 21/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight across western Victoria tonight but will weaken on Wednesday as a cold front crosses Tasmania. Another high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait on Thursday and then a high pressure system will move across Tasmania to reach the Tasman Sea on Friday. A low pressure trough will drift over the State on Christmas Day as a cold front moves over Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting to the coast tonight. Fine over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.Wednesday 22 DecemberIsolated early coastal showers then a fine and mainly sunny day. Warm in the north, mild in the south with light and variable winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 23 DecemberFine and mainly sunny. Warm in the north, mild in the south with light to moderate southerly winds.Friday 24 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. A warm day inland with light to moderate northeasterly winds but milder near the coast with afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 25 DecemberMostly fine. Isolated showers and thunderstorms near the eastern ranges and the chance of isolated showers near the coast later in the day.
