MELBOURNE - Dec 20/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system is east of Tasmania and will move away to the southeast tomorrow. A high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait later on Tuesday then a cold front will approach Tasmania on Wednesday. Another high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait on Thursday and then a high pressure system will move across Tasmania to reach the Tasman Sea on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas. Cool with fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast and over Gippsland.Tuesday 21 DecemberScattered showers on and south of the ranges at first, becoming isolated and contracting to coastal regions during the day. Snow about the Alpine peaks during the morning. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, easing during the day.Wednesday 22 DecemberIsolated early coastal showers then a fine and mainly sunny day. Warm in the north, mild in the south with light and variable winds.Thursday 23 DecemberFine and mainly sunny. Warm in the north, mild in the south with light to moderate southerly winds.Friday 24 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers about the eastern ranges during the afternoon.
