Australia -- Victoria Weather Update
MELBOURNE - Dec 19/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front will move over eastern Victoria this evening. An associated low will move across Tasmania to be over eastern Bass Strait by tonight. The low will intensify early Monday before moving away to the southeast on Monday night. A high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait on Tuesday then a cold front will approach Tasmania later on Wednesday. Another high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayWidespread showers easing over the northwest during the evening. Small hail possible with showers over the southwest this evening. Snow developing above 1100m, mainly on the east ranges at night. Winds shifting fresh to locally strong southwesterly from the west. Winds squally at times about coastal regions near the change.Monday 20 DecemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread about east Gippsland during the morning. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres during the morning over eastern ranges. Isolated showers clearing from the north. Cool with a fresh to strong southwesterly wind.Tuesday 21 DecemberScattered showers on and south of the ranges at first, becoming isolated and contracting to coastal regions during the day. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, easing during the day.Wednesday 22 DecemberIsolated early coastal showers then a fine and mainly sunny day. Warm in the north, mild in the south with light and variable winds.Thursday 23 DecemberIsolated showers in exposed coastal areas. Fine and mainly sunny in the remainder.
