Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 17/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will affect southern Victoria this morning. A stronger cold front will reach western Victoria early Sunday then move over central districts during Sunday afternoon and eastern districts Sunday night. An associated low will move across Tasmania on Sunday to be over eastern Bass Strait by Sunday night. The low will intensify early Monday before moving away to the southeast on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, becoming isolated and contracting to Gippsland and the central and western coasts during the afternoon. Isolated showers clearing over the north during the morning. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the south and contracting to the east in the afternoon. A cool day with generally moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Sunday 19 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout. Showers becoming widespread and tending to rain about the eastern ranges later. Snow developing above 1200m on the east ranges at night. Freshening northwesterly winds shifting colder and squally southwesterly during the day.Monday 20 DecemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, falling as snow above 1200 metres during the morning. Isolated showers over the north. Cool with a fresh to strong southwesterly wind.Tuesday 21 DecemberScattered showers on and south of the ranges at first, becoming isolated and contracting to the southwest coast during the day. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, easing during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
