MELBOURNE - Dec 17/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough stretches from the Northern Territory to northeast New South Wales, while a weak ridge of high pressure extends across the western and southern inland. Moisture levels are expected to build again across the state's north during the weekend, with unsettled conditions returning as a low pressure system in the south and associated front moves across the state on Sunday. Dry westerly winds are expected to extend throughout as the next high ridges in behind the front on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the northeast, contracting to the coast. Light patchy rain across remaining northern districts, and possible showers near the Victorian border in the east. Fine elsewhere, with some high cloud about in central parts. Southwest to northwest winds inland, tending northeast near the coast.Saturday 18 DecemberPatchy rain across northern districts. Isolated showers in the southeast and on the South West Slopes and eastern Riverina. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds.Sunday 19 DecemberIsolated showers throughout most parts, tending to rain areas in the north with locally heavy falls possible in the northeast. North to northwest winds in the east, tending west to southwest in the west.Monday 20 DecemberIsolated showers on the ranges south of the Hunter and on the western slopes, clearing early in the north. Showers persisting in the southeast including the south coast. Fine in the west and on the remainder of the coast. West to southwest winds extending throughout.Tuesday 21 DecemberPossible isolated showers on the south coast and western slopes of the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere.
