MELBOURNE - Dec 16/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough stretches from the Northern Territory to northeast New South Wales, while a weak ridge of high pressure extends across the western and southern inland. Moisture levels are expected to build again across the state's north during the weekend, with unsettled conditions returning as a cold front approaches from the southwest. Forecast for the rest of FridayPossible morning showers or drizzle patches about the central and south coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, contracting to the coast during the day. Light patchy rain developing across the northwest inland, and possible afternoon showers near the Victorian border in the east. Fine elsewhere, with some high cloud about. Southwest to northwest winds inland, tending northeast near the coast.Saturday 18 DecemberIsolated showers across northern districts, and in the far southeast. Showers becoming scattered in the far northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds.Sunday 19 DecemberIsolated showers throughout most parts, tending scattered in the north, and increasing to rain areas in the northeast. North to northwest winds in the east, tending west to southwest in the west.Monday 20 DecemberIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered in the northeast, contracting to the far northeast and the southeast during the day.
