MELBOURNE - Dec 16/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation On Friday a cold front will pass through Bass Strait. Another cold front will affect the State on Sunday with an accompanying low pressure system approaching Tasmania. On Monday the low pressure system will deepen to the east of Bass Strait before moving southeastwards on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from isolated showers near the coast. Light to moderate west to southwest winds and coastal seabreezes.Friday 17 DecemberScattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts but just the chance of a late shower in East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the south. Partly cloudy over northern districts with isolated showers developing. A mild day with freshening west to northwesterly winds.Saturday 18 DecemberScattered showers in southern and mountain districts becoming isolated and contracting to the southwest later. Isolated showers clearing over the north during the morning. Isolated thunderstorms in the south during the morning. A cool day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Sunday 19 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout and showers becoming widespread about the eastern ranges later. Snow about the Alpine peaks at night. Freshening northwesterly winds shifting colder and squally southwesterly during the day.Monday 20 DecemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, falling as snow above 1300 metres during the morning. Isolated showers over the north.
