Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 15/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge will develop over Victoria today as a cold front approaches from the Bight. On Friday the front will pass through Bass Strait. The next cold front will affect the State on Sunday with an accompanying low pressure system approaching Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the far east, mostly clearing this morning. Fine elsewhere apart from the chance of isolated showers near the southwest coast. A cool to mild and mostly sunny day with light to moderate west to southwest winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 17 DecemberScattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts but mostly fine over East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms near the coast. Partly cloudy over northern districts with isolated showers developing. A mild day with freshening west to northwesterly winds.Saturday 18 DecemberIsolated showers near and south of the ranges but fine in East Gippsland. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. A cool day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Sunday 19 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout. Freshening northwesterly winds shifting colder and squally southwesterly during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
