Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 15/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough is moving across central and eastern New South Wales, while an associated cold front passes to the south. This trough is expected to stall over the state's northeast later today as a ridge of high pressure brings a drier airmass to the western and southern inland. A deep low pressure system is expected to remain south of Tasmania during this period, and is expected to direct drier westerly winds across remaining districts on Friday. Moisture levels are likely to build again across the north during the weekend as another trough develops in the region, with unsettled conditions briefly returning as the next change approaches.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine and mostly sunny in the southwest. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, mostly clearing west of the Divide during the morning, Thunderstorms tending scattered in the northeast, particularly in the afternoon. North to northwest winds in the northeast, with a south to southwest change extending through remaining districts.Friday 17 DecemberIsolated clearing showers about the central and south coast and adjacent ranges. Scattered showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds inland, tending northeast near the coast.Saturday 18 DecemberIsolated showers across northern districts, and in the far southeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds.Sunday 19 DecemberIsolated showers throughout, tending scattered the northeast. North to northwest winds in the east, tending west to southwest in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
