MELBOURNE - Dec 5/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Preliminary Minor Flood Warning for the Hunter River Valley. Moderate Flood Warning for the Colo River at Putty Road. Moderate To Major Flood Warning for the Castlereagh River. Moderate To Major Flood Warning for the Macquarie and Bell Rivers. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Bogan River. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for Mandagery Creek and the Lachlan River at Nanami and Downstream. Final Minor Flood Warning for Queanbeyan Molonglo Rivers and the Murrumbidgee River at Mt Macdonald. Moderate To Major Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River Downstream of Burrinjuck Dam. Minor Flood Warning for the Bokhara River at Goodooga. Minor Flood Warning for the Warrego River. Minor Flood Warning for the Paroo River. Renewal Moderate Flood Warning for Belubula River at Canowindra. Flood Watch for the North West, South West and Central West Districts of New South Wales. Weather Situation A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea with a ridge towards Tasmania. This high will continue over the Tasman until Thursday, although it will move very slowly further east, with the high becoming centred at Tasmanian latitudes. A trough currently over WA will move slowly eastwards, passing over NSW on Wednesday and Thursday, and then over the Tasman on Friday. A high will move into the Bight behind this trough on Thursday and Friday. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Cloudy in the northeast with rain about the far north coast, and scattered showers about the northern and central ranges and adjacent slopes tending more isolated on the adjacent plains and coast and the southern ranges. Fine remainder. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Monday Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over much of the state, with rain periods in the far northeast corner with possible locally heavy falls. Showers tending scattered about central parts of the inland. Fine over the remainder. East to northeast winds. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers, with rain periods in the northeast and developing in the far west and southwest. The chance of thunderstorms, except for the southeastern coast and ranges. North to northeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Widespread rain and thunderstorms contracting eastwards over the inland with heavy falls expected. Rain periods and possible thunder in the far northeast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over most of the remainder. North to northeast winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the west. Forecast for Thursday Widespread rain and thunderstorms contracting to the northeast of the state and clearing from the west. Moderate to heavy falls likely, particularly west of the Divide.
