Weather Situation A stationary high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the New South Wales north coast. This is directing warm and humid winds into a weakening trough over the inland, and generating widespread showers or rain areas. Little change in the synoptic situation is expected during the next few days, although it appears likely that a more vigorous trough and cold front may move across the state mid-week. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Fine and mostly sunny in the far west. Rain areas with possible local thunder about central and northeast districts. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere, with showers becoming scattered in the southeast during the afternoon. North to northeast winds along the coast, tending east to northeast inland. Forecast for Sunday Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere, with showers tending scattered in the east. East to northeast winds along the coast, tending light and variable inland. Forecast for Monday Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the south and east, with showers tending scattered on the north and central coasts. Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest. East to northeast winds. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers, tending scattered with possible thunderstorms in the far west and about the northern coast. North to northeast winds.
