MELBOURNE - Nov 26/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Final Minor Flood Warning for the Warrego River at Fords Bridge Bywash. Minor Flood Warning for the Paroo River. Severe thunderstorm warning for the Illawarra, South Coast, Southern Tablelands, Riverina, Lower Western, Upper Western and Snowy Mountains forecast districts. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Crowdy Head and Gabo Island. Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation A high over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. This high is semi - stationary and will start to move towards New Zealand late on Saturday. The presence of this high is slowing the eastward movement of a low pressure trough currently over southwestern NSW. This trough will move eastwards over NSW during the weekend, when it is expected to intensify under the influence of an upper trough approaching from the west. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated showers about the far north coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the west and south. Northeast to northwest winds. Forecast for Saturday Areas of rain and possible thunderstorms in the west. Isolated showers developing in the southeast with possible thunderstorms. Fine in the northeast apart from isolated clearing showers on the far north coast. Northeast to northwest winds, fresh along the coast, turning southwesterly in the far west. Forecast for Sunday Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms in most districts, though rain clearing in the southwest and fine on the north coast. Possible heavy rain at times about the southern ranges and adjacent western slopes. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast. Southerly winds extending across the remainder. Forecast for Monday Showers or rain areas in the east with isolated thunderstorms. Isolated showers in the west, chiefly in the southwest. Northeast winds in the northeast. South to southeast winds remainder. Forecast for Tuesday Scattered showers in the east. Isolated showers in the west. Northeast winds.
