Weather Situation
A stationary high over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast, and will remain in the region for the next few days. The presence of this high is slowing the approach of a low pressure trough, which is expected to reach the far southwest of the state tonight, continuing to central parts districts during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Isolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, and the chance of showers in the northwest. Showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the southwest. Fine elsewhere. North to northeast winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Patchy rain in the west, increasing in the far southwest with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Rain areas and possible thunderstorms in the west, with patchy rain extending to the southeast later. Northeast to northwest winds.
Forecast for Saturday
Areas of rain and possible thunderstorms across western and central districts, extending to the southeast later. Isolated showers about the north coast, clearing. Northeast to northeast winds, turning southwesterly in the far west.
Forecast for Sunday
Fine in the northeast and southwest. Showers or rain areas elsewhere, with the chance of thunderstorms. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast. Southerly winds extending across the remainder.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.
